Dallas City/LaHarpe 5th and 6th grade Boys Basketball
The Dallas City/LaHarpe 5th and 6th grade boys basketball teams were in action four times this past week. On Monday, January 23rd, the Bulldogs played host to the Hamilton Cardinals. The 5th grade contest went in favor of the visitors by the score of 23-8. Brock Richardson and Weston Pollock had 4 points apiece to account for all of the Bulldogs scoring on the night. In the 6th grade contest, the DC/LH squad stayed perfect on the season with a 42-10 win. Brandon Buttz led all scorers with 14 points. Jackson Porter tallied 8 points, with Austin Torrence adding 6. Drake Huss and Cory Squier rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.
On Tuesday, January 24th, the Bulldogs traveled to Stronghurst to take on the West Central Heat. The 5th graders took the court first and won a 25-16 decision. Weston Pollock led the Bulldogs with 9 points. Michael Speegle, Brock Richardson and Kellen Dysert scored 4 points apiece, while Nick Vorhies and Tanner Miller tallied 2 points each. The 6th grade squad took the court next and kept their season rolling with a 33-10 victory. Jackson Porter led the scoring with 16 points. Brandon Buttz added 8, with Austin Torrence adding 4. Parker Yard and Cory Squier scored 2 points apiece, with Drake Huss adding one free throw in the win.
On Wednesday night, January 25th, the Bulldogs were on the road again, this time at West Prairie. The 5th grade made it two wins in a row with an 18-4 win. Brock Richardson led the Bulldogs with 7 points. Dylan Maloney and Weston Pollock scored 4 points each. Jeremiah Settle tallied 2 points and Wyatt Johnson added one free throw in the victory. The 6th grade Bulldogs came out and took control early on their way to a 51-9 win. Four players reached double figures in the victory. Jackson Porter led the way with 17 points. Parker Yard pitched in with 12 points, with Austin Torrence and Brandon Buttz adding 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brock Richardson tallied one free throw as well.
On Thursday, January 26th, both squads finished out an exhausting week with home games against Camp Point (Central). The 5th graders ran up against the best team they’ve seen all season, and dropped a 34-10 decision. Mason Squier scored 4 points to lead the Bulldogs on this night. Weston Pollock scored 3, while Brock Richardson added 2. Tanner Miller tallied one free throw to round out the scoring. The 6th grade Bulldogs won a 29-15 contest, to run their record to 9-0 on the year. Jackson Porter led all scorers with 22. Brandon Buttz added 6 points, while Drake Huss added a free throw in the win.
