Meet Mrs. Myers
Welcome!
This school year marks my 31st year teaching in La Harpe. I began my career teaching 5th grade. I have also taught 3rd and 4th graders as well as Elementary Physical Education. I grew up in Roseville and lived with a family of teachers. My mom taught Jr.Hi and High School, my dad was a teacher and later an administrator. My brother currently teaches and coaches at Purdue University.
I live in La Harpe with my husband, Rod. Our daughter, Mariah, is a sophomore in college and is attending Iowa State University in Ames where she studies Animal Ecology. We have a son, Jason, who lives and works in Springfield, IL. He and his fiance are planning a June 2011 wedding.
The highlight of our summer was in late July when we were fortunate enough to have our Foreign Exchange Student daughter, Leonie, come back to visit us for a month.
I have a variety of interests besides teaching. I enjoy photography, golfing, reading, swimming, the Green Bay Packers, and St. Louis Cardinals. We raise Paint Horses and have four Golden Retrievers named Max, Sandi, Lucy, and Saxon. We have foals and litters of puppies every year.
In our timber and pond, we enjoy hunting, 4-wheeling, fishing, and swimming. Our summers are busy baling hay and growing corn and oats for the horses. We were able to do some traveling and also had many family members travel to La Harpe for a visit this summer.
