Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts!!
The sixth graders have finished taking their ISAT tests. They worked very hard to prepare for the tests. Sixth graders took writing, reading, and math.
Now that all of the ISAT prep is over, we have been reading the novel "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." This is a book about two children who run away from home and go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. We read about the adventures the children have and about the mystery they are trying to solve.
In the process of reading the novel, we have learned a little about the Italian Renaissance and the artist/sculptor Michaelangelo. We also discussed child abduction and how to keep ourselves safe. We talked about how careful we need to be out there in the world and even at home while on the internet. It's a scary topic, but a very important one to talk about!
