Meet Mrs. Mencel
Hi,
My name is Mrs. Stephanie Mencel. I am just beginning my 8th year as the music teacher in the LaHarpe School District. 
I grew up in Colchester and was encouraged to participate in music from a very young age. I participated in piano lessons, children's church choir and beginning band as an elementary student. In high school I continued my musical growth with private voice lessons and trumpet lessons at WIU while continuing to participate in piano lessons, teen church choir and high school band, choir, and show choir.
I attended WIU in Macomb with a major in music education and a double emphasis in both band and choir method studies. I continued with my voice and trumpet lessons and also became involved in the adult choir at my church.
I am married and have two children. My family currently lives in Colchester, IL. I am still very active in the music program at our church where I am the music chairperson.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, sewing and playing games with my family.
My favorite music to listen to are show tunes from Broadway musicals.
I have a twin sister who also lives in the area. Many of you may have seen her and thought she was me!
