About Mrs. Faul

Hi!  My name is Carrie Faul.  I am the math teacher for the junior high in La Harpe.  I will also be teaching some reading this year.  This is my sixth year teaching in LaHarpe.  There are a lot of changes taking place this year in the junior high.  Along with the changes in the building, the junior high schedule will be different.  I am really excited about the things taking place within our school.

I grew up in northern Iowa on a farm.  I lived with my mother, father, and was the youngest of four children. We had a lot of different animals and crops.  I graduated from Forest City High School in Forest City, IA.

My first few years of college were spent at the University of Northern Iowa.  I eventually transferred to Western Illinois University and completed my bachelors degree in 1998.  After a few years, I started to take classes for a masters degree in elementary education with an emphasis on language and literature.  I finished my thesis in the summer of 2007.  During that time, however, I took classes towards my reading specialist masters degree.

On a personal level, my husband, Erik, and I recently purchased a few acres of land near Ferris.  We have spend many hours remodeling the house and shop that are there.  We have been married since 2006.  My husband farms within a mile of our new home, which is why we moved.  We have a son named Dylan who is fifteen years old.  He is a sophomore at Illini West High School.

My hobbies/interests include many different things.  I love spending time with my family.  Together we like going on vacation, camping, watching movies, watching the Cardinals, working on our different vehicles, and cooking.  We also have a blind kitten named Sally.  She definitely has made things interesting at our house.  She makes me think about things from a different perspective!  Last summer we found another kitten in the corn field near our home.  I couldn't just leave her there, so she joined our household.  Her name is Lucy.  We have adopted a third kitten as well.  Her name is Nugget.  She showed up in the middle of one of the snow storms last winter.  The first few days the girls didn't get along very well, but now they are best of friends!

Hopefully this lets you know a little bit about my background, education, and family.  I find it an honor and a privilege to be in LaHarpe and work with your children. Thank you for this opportunity!
