8th Grade L.A.
In 8th grade language arts, the students have been working hard to prepare themselves for the ISAT tests. Eighth grade was tested over narrative and persuasive writing and reading.
Now, the students are reading the novel "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. What is interesting about this author is that she was a 16 year old girl who wrote the book! The novel is about a group of boys from different social classes who don't get along. Being a woman, she was afraid people wouldn't think she was a reliable enough source, so she used her initials S.E. The novel has become very popular and has even been made into a movie!
This novel is usually the eighth graders favorite book they read this year. They are very excited, and it is wonderful to hear, "This is a really good book!"
