Jump Rope for Heart 2010

On February 19, the LaHarpe Jr. High and Elementary Schools held their annual Jump Rope For Heart event in the gym.  This year Pre-K through 8th grade students raised $6016.00 for the American Heart Association.  Each grade level got to jump in the gym for a period of time, enjoy music, and socially interact, while exercising their hearts by jumping rope.

The top  fund raisers in the school included Annie Sholl, Trinity Burton, Tori Crim, Will Geissler, Kylee Laverty, Dalton Melvin, Jensen Mangold, Noah Nichols, Caroline Sirtak .  All of these students raised $100.00 or more.  The top fundraiser in the entire school was 4th grader Annie Sholl.  Annie raised $275.00 overall, with the majority coming from online collections, which is extremely simple.  Annie jumped in honor of her late grandma, Analu Jones.  Congratulations to Mrs. Palmer's 5th grade class, who had 100% class participation in donations.  Great Job!  Also, good job Mrs. Kendall and Mrs. Jones's 4th grade class for raising the most money.  They collected $960 for the Heart Association.

This year, Fun City in Burlington, Iowa had a special promotion for Jump Rope for Heart.  If a student collected $50 or more, they will receive a free admission to a special day to honor Jump Rope for Heart participants this summer, and will include a $20 Fun Card for their efforts. With the amount of money collected, the school also qualifies for a $300 voucher from U.S. Games to buy P.E. equipment.

Make sure you check out some of our pictures  in the slide show attached to this article.  Once again, the students did an outstanding job of collecting funds this year and we want to thank all of the people who donated to make our event such a success.
