Desert Diorama
Students should look for pictures of Southwest United States desert landscapes (Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas).
After viewing pictures, students should design and make desert dioramas based on what they have seen. Dioramas may be composed of such materials as construction paper and sandpaper. Be creative! Shoe boxes or other boxes of similar sizes should work well.
Each diorama should include at least two desert animals and two types of desert vegetation. Each student will be given an index card to describe the wildlife and plant life depicted in their project.
Projects should be created at home. Students may work with a partner if they choose, but we will NOT be working on these during the school day.
Completed projects will be due by Friday, September, 17th.
