Fire Safety Day

Friday, the students at LaHarpe Elementary and Junior High conducted  their annual  fire safety day, with the help of the LaHarpe Fire Department.  Students in grades Pre-K through grade 5 talked with the firemen about fire safety in the home, and what to do in case of a fire.  The firemen showed the students the various tools they use when battling a fire, as well as the trucks they use to get to the fires.  These students had the opportunity to go into the smoke house and talked about the importance of  having a family escape plan, in case of a fire. The highlight of the day was the opportunity to shoot a real firehose, with the help of trained firemen  Thanks to the firefighters for helping to make the day a successful learning experience for the students at LaHarpe.
