Elks Hoop Shoot Contest
LaHarpe Elementary and Junior High School recently held the annual Elks' Hoop Shoot contest in physical education classes. Under the direction of Ms. Laurena Hunter, hte PE classes at LaHarpe have particiapated in this national contest for years. It is essentially a free throw shooting contest, with contestants shooting 25 free throws apiece. Winners from the LaHarpe school go on to compete at the regional level, which this year was held in Bushnell. There are 3 age brackets for both boys and girls. The six LaHarpe students who won and advanced to the regional shootout in Bushnell were:
8-9 year-old girls: Taylor Pence
8-9 year-old boys: Trenton Blythe
10-11 year-old girls: Elva Sutton
10-11 year-old boys: Jackson Porter
12-13 year-old girls: Kelly Sirtak
12-13 year-old boys: Jonah Burt
