Elks Hoop Shoot District Champion
This past Sunday, January 15th, the best free throw shooters in the West Central district of Illinois converged in Macomb for the Elks District Hoop Shoot. Each participant was a winner from their own regional hoop shoot held back in December. There are 6 age divisions in the Elks Hoop Shoot, 3 for boys and 3 for girls, with a champion crowned in each division. Shooters from as far away as Lincoln, IL were represented in the shoot. Jackson Porter from LaHarpe represented our region Sunday, and won the 10-11 year-old boys division. Jackson made 19 of 25 free throws to win the championship. He will represent our district now at the Elks State Hoop Shoot competition in Decatur on Saturday, February 11th. There will be 8 shooters in each age division and the winner of each group then competes in a Midwestern states competition. This is the 3rd time Jackson has qualified for the state shoot.
