DC/LaHarpe 5th and 6th Grade Boys Basketball
The Dallas City/LaHarpe 5th and 6th grade boys basketball teams saw action in 2 games this past week. On Monday, January 9th, the Bulldogs traveled to Nauvoo. The 5th grade contest was first and the Vikings were able to claim a 20-5 win over DC/LH. Three Bulldogs reached the scoring column. Weston Pollock and Nick Vorhies tallied 2 points apiece, while Mason Squier added one free throw in the loss. The 6th graders then took the court and fared much better, beating a good Nauvoo team by the score of 40-28. Five Bulldogs scored on the night, led by Jackson Porter's 16 points. Brandon Buttz tallied 9 points, with Cory Squier adding 6. Parker Yard tallied 5 points, whil Austin Torrence added 4 in the win.
On Wednesday, January 11th, DC/LH played host to the Southeastern Suns. Both teams won to make it a sweep on the night. The 5th grade contest was all Bulldogs, as they cruised to a 24-7 victory. Brock Richardson led all scorers with 8 points. Nick Vorhies scored 6 points, with Mason Squier adding 4. Also reaching the scoring column were Michael Steegle, Kellen Dysert and Weston Pollock with 2 points apiece. The 6th grade Bulldogs took the court next and ran their record to a perfect 4-0 with a 53-7 win. Jackson Porter and Brandon Buttz led the offensive onslaught with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Austin Torrence contributed 8 points while Drake Huss added 6. Spencer Andries and Parker Yard scored 2 points each as well in the victory.
