Covid School Year PTO General Information:

What is PTO?  PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization.  PTO is a nonprofit group of parents, teachers and staff dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students at LaHarpe Schools.  Our goals are to encourage interaction between family and school, serve as a source fo support, and work with teachers, staff, and teh community to improve our children's educational experience.

What does the PTO do?  The PTO helps with special events such as back to school events, PBIS activities, teacher appreciation week, and end of the year celebrations. If you looked up "PTO" in the dictionary you might find words like organize, support, help and volunteer.

Who can join PTO?  Any parent or guardian of a current student at LaHarpe Schools, as well as faculty and staff can join the PTO.

How do I become a member: All you have to do to become a member is just volunteer to help and/or join us April 7th at 6:00 pm in the library for our initial meeting this year.  Please call the office at 217-659-3713 to let us know you are coming so we can plan on how to social distance accordingly.  We may need to utilize the gymnasium if we have large numbers.  If you cannot attend, but want to be aware of opportunities to help our, please email Mrs. Ryner at sryner@laharpeeagles.com  to be added to the PTO email list.

When and where are the meetings? The goal is to have an annual meeting in September to plan activities for the year when experiencing a non-pandemic year.  As events are held, committees may be formed for additional meetings to plan details.  Meetings will start at 6:00 pm and end at/before 7:00 pm.  With COVID 19, the PTO has not met this year.  We will meet April 7th at 6:00 pm to make plans for the remainder of this year as well as to plan for the fall.  We may choose to regularly meet an an earlier or later time.

How can I make a difference at LaHarpe Schools? The PTO believes that parent involvement is an essential ingredient to a student's success.  We strongly encourage all parents and faculty to join the PTO.  Joining PTO is a great way for you to support our child and to ensure he/she receives the best education possible.  You can attend PTO meetings, volunteer your time for PTO events, and support fundraising events.  You input is important to us

Please consider helping in any way that fits your schedule.  There are many things you can do that will help the PTO.
